I'm Chelsea, the face and the camera behind Chelsea Rousey Photography. I am madly in love with this job, and to photograph your family is truly an honor. Thank you for being here.
Motherhood and family photography is near and dear to my heart. Growing up, my mama was my world and I can not wait to be on the other end of that relationship, to feel the magic of motherhood. I believe that the power of a woman should be celebrated and that the oh so fleeting moments of childhood should be cherished. I hope to create images that move you, that spark joy in you, that make you chuckle at the true nature of your family caught on film.
I blend fine art and documentary photography to tell your story with bright, timeless, emotive imagery. Below you'll find information about my maternity, newborn and family sessions!

Maternity sessions are a beautiful way to celebrate this time of change and growth as a woman and as a mama. These sessions can be scheduled at any time in your pregnancy but are typically scheduled between 25 - 30 weeks. Most mamas find a second trimester sweet spot during this window.
This session includes your full maternity session in your home or on location focusing on your beautiful growing belly as well as your connection with your partner, assistance preparing for your session and an online gallery of 20 digital images with print release.
These sessions are available Monday-Friday. Weekend sessions are available for an additional $190.

Portrait sessions include maternity sessions, at home newborn sessions and family sessions. Portrait sessions are a fun, spirited session in New Orleans, with assistance preparing for your session, your images from the session, and a print release included in your session.
Portrait sessions are available Monday-Friday. Weekend sessions are available for an additional $190.
Sessions 15 miles outside of New Orleans are subject to a mileage fee.

lifestyle newborn
Lifestyle Newborn sessions take place in your home and are typically scheduled for around two - four weeks after baby is born. The younger the infant, the more likely we are to get those sleepy, squishy newborn shots but each family is different, and your family may not be ready by two weeks. Don't worry! Your little one will still be perfectly itty bitty for weeks after they arrive home. I focus on all the naturally amazing details your new little baby- their unique details and expressions, you and your partner and baby's siblings holding and interacting with them and the baby laying or moving around naturally.
This session includes a relaxed, snuggly session with time for photos of baby only and as an entire family, assistance preparing for your session and an online gallery of 20 digital images with print release.
Lifestyle sessions are available Monday-Friday. Weekend sessions are available for an additional $190.

On location family sessions are typically done at a park, garden or at your home! These sessions are very relaxed and truly lifestyle, and allow plenty of time for your littles to relax in front of the camera and come out of their shell, leaving you with memories of your children just as they are.. right now.
This session includes a fun, relaxed session focusing on the connection and bond of your family, assistance preparing for your session, and an online gallery of 20 digital images with print release.
Lifestyle sessions are available Monday-Friday. Weekend sessions are available for an additional $190.

I would best describe my style as timeless, bright, emotive, and light driven! My images reflect my love of neutral palettes, clean composition, beautiful light, and trying to capture your genuine connection while making you look naturally beautiful!

How do we prepare for a session?
Each session is different. I definitely don’t have a limit to how many photos I take or deliver in your proofing gallery! However, I do guarantee at least 40 images per session as a reference. This is a give and take, of course! If there are 100 amazing images, you'll see them all! You'll then have the option to choose your 20 images from the proofing gallery.

Where do you have sessions?
With the exception of newborn sessions, which take place in your home, I most often have sessions at local parks or neighborhoods! I have visited and held sessions in many of the beautiful outdoor parks and neighborhoods that New Orleans has to offer. However, I LOVE shooting at new places and seeing a location with fresh eyes is always exciting! I have a blog post talking about all of my favorite locations. Take a look right here!

How much is the retainer and what is the payment plan?
For a la carte sessions, the session fee is due at signing. For First Year Collections, I require a non refundable retainer or 25 percent of the full collection price to confirm your booking. Another 25% installment is due 30 days after signing and the final 50% installment is due six months after signing!

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK YOU FOR OUR session?
My calendar fills up quickly so I recommend booking as soon as possible. As a wedding and family photography, my weekends are especially limited. I recommend scheduling fall and spring family sessions up to 6 months in advance and contacting me about maternity and newborn sessions as soon as you can!

Amazing! I am so thrilled! The next step is to email me to confirm dates and availability. Once we select the best session or collection for you, I will send you a contract to sign and instructions on how to pay the retainer. Please know that I cannot hold any date without both the retainer and contract completed. I can't wait to work with you!
